Photoshoot Three - Stop Motion

I found that this stop motion came out better because I added more ingredients into the plan and showed the baking and placing of the cake mix into the oven. I also experimented with the  time that it takes to make the cake using a clock to show the time ticking away.

Project Two - Photoshoot Three

I found that this photoshoot went alot better as I knew how I wanted to do things and which bits I needed to work on from the last photoshoot. I am still having problems with the light but I think I will just have to use photoshop to fix the darker pictures for my stop motion.

Second Photoshoot - First Stop Motion

I have made this stop motion from my second photoshoot using Windows Movie Maker and thought that it looks quite good for my first attempt at a stop motion for 144. From this stop motion I can see where the areas are that I need to work on to make better and more detailed.

Research - Sian Bonnell

This image by Sian Bonnell from her 'Putting Hills in Holland' series is interesting because of the position that she has put each object in and the way that each object is pretty much a larger and slightly different design as they tower are catches the eye. I find this image really interesting an bizzare as the background is grass.
This image is from Bonnell's series 'They Came'. I find this image is a really interesting image because of the colours and composition. I like the way that she has made the darker jelly the focus point but has the other closer, in less focus and a lighter blue shade. Again I like the different background of the grass.

Project Two - Photoshoot Two

I thought that this photo shoot went really well and that I achieved what I wanted to achieve but next photo shoot I think I will take more photos and slow my pace down so that I can really think about how each object enters the scene. Also next time I want to take more pictures during the cooking process in the oven. In my next photo shoot I also need to take more photos of the clock to incorporate that into my time lapse.

Project Two - Second Initial Proposal

After many days of trying to figure out how to achieve in this project with a successful idea I have gone back through my notes from class and decided on a concrete topic of the kitchen and baking. I have decided on this because when we make a cake we take for granted the use of an oven and all the ingredients without actually watching what those instruments actually do for us in the long run. I have decided to show this through a stop motion of the process of making a cake and its change in states through heat. I got this idea from Sian Bonnell through her photography of baking and supermarkets.

Stop Motion Research

I got shown this clip in another design class and was really amazed at the choreography and producing from adidas. I think that it is a really good way for adidas to advertise their clothing and get their name out there by viewers being constantly hooked in to the clip.

Stop Motion Research

This stop motion by PES I find really awesome because the way that it has been produced so successfully is really interesting and entertaining. I think that it keeps the viewer wondering what they are capable of next and also keeps them really interested through the clip.

Stop Motion Research

I like this stop motion because I find it simply amazing and the time that it would have taken to make this would have been a really long time. Also the thought and coordination of the careful placing of each post it note would have been a long and tedious process. The people that have made this are simply amazing and have thought of a really good idea.

Stop Motion Research

I find this stop motion really interesting because for one, I have never completed a rubicks cube before and I think this stop motion would have taken a long time to create. I also like this because it kinda keeps you wondering if the person doing the cube will actually complete or not.

Stop Motion Research

I have posted this stop motion because it relates to my initial idea for project two of a decomposing banana skin. I think this stop motion is good because it shows the visual difference clearly during the decomposing process.

Stop Motion Research

This stop motion I also find really cool. I like the way that the producers have produced the stop motion in the way of printing out the pictures rather than making the stop motion through digital images.

Stop Motion Research

I got shown this stop motion clip in one of my design lectures and found it really amazing. Only if I had the time and capability to create something like this. The effort and time the creators must have put into it would be incredible. I think it is very well done.

Project Two -Photo Shoot One

For my first photo shoot I set up a scene that I hope would have an even level of lighting as the time of day changed. Unfortunately that didn't quite work as it came into night. Other than that, I thought my photo shoot went well but I think I need to do my photo shoot over a longer period of time which will be easier to accomplish in the holidays.

Fast Shutter Speed

Slow Shutter Speed

Initial Research - Justin Quinnell; Pinhole Photography - Slow Light Collection

I find these images by Quinnell really interesting because his dedication to his work is amazing because of the fact that he is willing to leave his camera in a place for a certain amount of time to capture some really interesting things, even though I do find some of his pictures quite similar.
I find this image interesting basically because I find the colours work well within the image. I like the way that the main subject (the light) is curved but doesn't take up too much of the photo itself.

I like this image by Quinnell because I like the blue colours that are representing the night in a graveyard but also the white lighting represents the life that is still around (maybe spirits) and that people never completely die because there are memories that keep them alive in some peoples hearts.

Initial Research - Hiroshi Sugimoto - Lightning Fields

These images by Sugimoto are interesting because of the time and dedication that he has put into his work. I find these images interesting because of the thought that he has put into creating this series.
This images grabs my attention because it almost looks like a flower that is possibly glowing in the dark or floating into no where.
I like this image because of the way that there is the blur around the tree that almost indicates the wind that is swaying the tree. This image also represents loneliness and possibly even haunting.

Initial Research - Alexey Titarenko - Time Standing Still

These images are from Titarenko's series of Time Standing still. I find these images interesting because you find yourself drawn to the subject that is standing still rather than the subject matter that is moving at a possible fast speed.

When I look at this image I find myself wondering how that woman is still sitting there alone because of the amount of movement around her. This image also brings war and holocaust into mind because of the wet looking ground and the clothing that she is wearing.

I find this image really interesting but I am not sure if it is because of the girl in motion or the emptiness of the image. I like this image because it reminds me of a small possible town like Eketahuna.

Project Two - Time; Initial Proposal

For this project I have decided to take a series of photographs of a banana skin decomposing over a small amount of time. I am hoping to achieve this by taking a photo of the banana skin every hour or so to show the change over smaller amounts of time.
I am planning to set up a set for my photo shoots that will have a white background to enhance the colours of the fruit changing and also have a clock in the scene with large numbers to show the time of each photo that has been taken so that the viewers are able to also see the time changing and not just the visual aspects of the decomposing fruit.
I am planning to put these images from my photo shoots into a stop motion so that it is easier on the eye to see the change in the fruits colour and size. I am also planning on investigating the difference in different banana skins and days which may have an effect on the decomposing cycle. I am going to investigate this by taking shoots on different days and with a new banana skin. These shoots will end up making one stop motion.
